Giacomo Brunelli Italian, b. 1977

I first encountered Giacomo's noir silver gelatin prints in 2014, though I really became acquainted with him and his work while curating the 2016 exhibition UNSEEN: Silhouettes and Shadows at Peter Fetterman Gallery. His glossy fiber prints are produced by hand in his home darkroom and are painted black along the edges to achieve an edge-to-edge darkness. Beyond his unique approach to following animals of curiousity, be them human or wild, Giacomo's work is visually consistent through a static technical approach to his exposures and high-contrast printing.
