Kaya & Blank: Intermodal
Current exhibition
Overview
An installation debuting new work by the LA-based artist-duo Kaya & Blank.
Artist Opening Reception: Fri. July 11th, 5:00 - 8:00 pm
Marshall Gallery is excited to announce the second of two forthcoming installations opening at the gallery on Friday, July 11th. If you have followed the gallery for a while now, you might recall the LA-based duo’s exceptional 2023 video installation “Crude Aesthetics” in our exhibition “Into the Uncanny Valley”. Their combination of entrancing video work and tactile prints will once again invite visitors to patiently engage with machines of consumerism in our own backyard.
“Intermodal brings together a video filmed at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and a series of salted paper prints made with water collected from the ports themselves. The work traces the movement of global cargo, from the precise choreography of cranes and ships to distant silhouettes of industrial marine traffic on the horizon. It makes visible the infrastructures that are often hidden from view, yet deeply embedded in the global trade system and the goods we encounter every day.” - Kaya & Blank
