Horizons (2019) is a body of work created in response to and in collaboration with the practices of Leslie Moody-Castro and Daniela Libertado for the exhibition A Grain in the Eye of the Mountain at the MARSO Foundation. The exhibition explored the poetic possibilities emerging from their works and their relationship to an evolving series of conversations, particularly around the container as a symbol that unfolds the materiality of the work.

The series was produced using the velvet edge of a 35mm photographic film container, which generates the horizon line within each image. In the darkroom, the artist enlarged the images while employing color filters in front of the lens to construct layered spaces through multiple color exposures. The work engages an interest in the poetics of the edge, the horizon, the limit, and the container, unfolding from photographic materiality to evoke a landscape that recalls the blink of an eye. These pieces invite viewers to consider the act of observation itself, emphasizing the power of stepping back to witness oneself observing.
